Full Disclosure

It is important that our new patients understand that there is nothing pertaining to their oral health that they should hide from our dentists. Our dentists are concerned with your oral health, and hiding important information (such as smoking or not brushing teeth regularly) can have an impact on the treatment and services that our dentists recommend. Therefore, it is crucial that you complete an accurate medical and dental history on your first visit.

If you feel anxious before going to your first appointment, we want to remind you that we are here to help you achieve the smile you want regardless of your current oral state. We are here for you!

At the Dental Office

When you arrive at our dental office, please inform the receptionist. After our dentist has been alerted and all the necessary paperwork has been submitted, a member of our staff will greet you to proceed with the consultation.

Your Health History

Before the dental exam is performed, talk to our dentist about your health history. This will give our dentist insight into your oral health and underlying causes of any present issues, if any.

X-rays are taken so that our dentist can properly examine your teeth, jawbone, and overall bone health, which are not visible by clinical exam. If you are pregnant please let our dentist know beforehand.

Dental Exam

On the first visit, our dentist will perform a comprehensive dental exam. During this comprehensive exam, the dentist will evaluate the X-rays and check the mouth and teeth for any potential issues such as dental caries or "cavities," periodontal disease (also known as gum disease), malocclusion (problems with your bite) to name a few. After the comprehensive exam is complete, our dentist will formulate a custom-made treatment plan for you and inform you of any other recommendations.

We recommend that every patient have regular cleanings with one of our dental hygienists. Cleanings vary based upon gum and bone health surrounded the teeth. Dental cleanings are meant to remove bacteria, plaque, and tartar build-up and maintain a healthy smile free of stains. After a thorough cleaning has been done, our dental hygienist will polish your teeth.

Disease Prevention/Recommendations

After your treatment is over, our dentist may recommend products that help prevent future dental issues and ensure that your oral health is always at its best. Some of the products recommended may include fluoride treatments that help prevent cavities, sealants, or a dental care kit.

Final Questions

While you are with us is the best time to mention any questions or doubts that may linger in your mind. We are happy to demonstrate how to floss properly, correct brushing techniques, or provide any clarification you may need, so asking for assistance is highly encouraged.

Scheduling the Next Visit

After your first visit, approach the receptionist to schedule your next appointment and to make any necessary payments. We will reschedule you based on our dentist’s recommendation and your availability.

When leaving our office, make sure to follow our dentist’s advice to keep your teeth clean and maintain optimal oral health long after treatment.
